Cost Share Program for Best Management Practices (BMPs)
Implementation |
The Sauk River Watershed District
applies to many federal, state and local organizations to
attain grant dollars to sustain the SRWD’s Incentive Program.
Funds are typically leveraged against other cost share
programs offered by the county SWCD’s and NRCS’s to stretch
the available funds and to offer the landowner at least 50%
cost share funding. However, this is not always the case when
funds are low.
Cost share funds (grant dollars) are non-repayable
funds available to citizens within designated sub-watersheds
of the Sauk River Watershed District. Cost share funds are
eligible for various types of BMPs, manure management systems
and erosion control projects. However, septic system upgrades
and other waste water treatment systems are not eligible for
grant funding. Individual sewage treatment
systems (ISTS) are only eligible for loan dollars under the
State Revolving Loan Program.
The maximum cost share an individual project may
receive from the SRWD cost share program is 50% of the total
eligible project costs. Eligible costs are listed in the
contract from each funding agency (i.e. MPCA, EPA). If a
project activity is questionable, the assigned project manager
(from the funding agency) must approve that
activity in writing. All cost sharable expenses are paid
directly to the contractor/vendor.
Implementing BMPs is a voluntary effort, therefore
offering cost share dollars is an incentive for landowners to
make environmental improvements without having to carry the
full financial burden on their own.
Examples (but not limited to) of projects
eligible for Cost Share funding are shown in the left column.
