Incentive Programs

Minnesota is a “water rich” state. However, abundance of water doesn’t necessarily mean having abundance of “usable water”. Managing our water resources wisely is very important if we wish to continue to enjoy the benefits of these valuable resources.
The Sauk River Watershed District is committed to water quality and has taken many steps to improve the water quality of the lakes and streams within the District.
The Incentive Program was set up to allow watershed residents/landowners to receive a financial benefit by participating in resource conservation and enhancement efforts. By “sharing the cost”, landowners can undertake projects they could not afford to do on their own.
The Watershed District’s Incentive Program offers cost share funding (grant dollars) and State Revolving Loan Funds (SRF) low interest loans for Best Management Practice (BMPs) projects implemented within the Sauk River Watershed District. Landowners have the option to utilize both funding programs for their project when monies are available.
The SRWD Incentive Program funds are attained through grant programs offered by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), Environmental Projection Agency (EPA), Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR) and designated foundations and organizations.
